While in high school, Luis worked part-time at a jewelry manufacturing company in Puerto Rico. His first job was making earrings from molds. During his years in Puerto Rico, Luis became a full fledged jeweler. In 1975, he moved to NYC, where he became manager of the men’s ring department at Columbia Manufacturing Co. His department was responsible for setting diamonds, gemstones and producing the finished product. In 1983, he moved to Florida and worked at Diamonds Unlimited as a jeweler, and was was promoted to manager.
In 1988, he purchased Kens Jewelry and expanded it to Ken’s Jewelry & Repairs. Luis has more than 45 years experience in the trade. Although Luis has retired, he still drops by to chat with his many friends and loyal customers.
Like his father, Luis Jr. learned the trade at an early age, as he was always at the jewelry store. Luis Jr. is the store manager, appraiser and custom designer at Ken's Jewelry & Repairs.
Through the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) he is is certified as an Accredited Jewelry Professional. He also carries Jewelry Essentials and Diamonds & Diamond Grading certification.
Edgardo joined Ken’s Jewelry & Repairs in 2015. Having also learned the jewelry trade through the family business (he learned from his father in Puerto Rico), he went on to work for several of the largest jewelers in PR, including Joyeria Mundo de Oro in San Juan for 14 years. Before joining the Ken’s family Edgardo had been a Master Jeweler for Gordon's Jewelers for 15 years.
He has many specialities, including custom jewelry, setting gemstones, name plates and other jewelry repairs. Edgardo has set stones as small as a chip, to as large as a 12 carat round diamond. Ken’s Jewelry & Repairs is pleased to have Edgardo on our team. He brings over 30 years experience in the industry along with his skills and integrity.
